LEGOLAND Windsor has been awash with activity this week as the first of the LEGO-themed submarines arrived at their new £8 million ride, Atlantis Submarine Voyage.

The park has been eagerly awaiting for the eight submarines to surface, following a 586 mile journey from renowned theme park ride manufacturer, Mack Rides, based in Germany to LEGOLAND Windsor. Due to open in the summer, Atlantis Submarine Voyage has been in development for the past year, and is now taking shape with the delivery and installation of the submarines which each weigh over eight tonnes and hold up to 14 people.

Atlantis Submarine Voyage is the first LEGO-themed underwater ride in the world and will take families on a magical marine voyage inside custom-built LEGO themed submarines. Inside guests will be able to explore the mesmerising 1 million litre ocean tank featuring nearly 100 spectacular LEGO models which took an estimated 2,683 hours to create.  Visitors will also be treated to underwater views of over 50 different species of sealife including rare species of shark, rays and tropical fish.

Sue Kemp, Divisional Director of LEGOLAND Windsor, said: “This is a great week for us. We’ve been looking forward to the arrival of the subs, and now they’re here the ride is truly starting to come to life!”
